4:22 Bhagavad Gita

Context

In the previous text Krishna said that an evolved soul is completely freed from all selfishness and possessiveness. The current text mentions some of the characteristics required for such desirelessness.

Text

Yadriccha labha santushto - Satisfied with whatever comes

One should be satisfied with whatever one achieves. But how is it possible to be satisfied if one achieves something "bad"?

Dvandvatito vimatsara - Freedom from aversion by conquering duality

One should erase the distinction between desireable and undesirable, "good" and "bad" by knowing that even "bad" results are an equally good opportunity to learn and grow. With this attitude one can truly be satisfied with whatever one attains - success or failure (siddha or asiddha).
