Krishna here advises Arjun that the yoga of work he described in the preceding verses is time tested and proven to work. Therefore, Arjun should fight with knowledge that Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and that work should be performed as duty, to please the keeper of duty - God, without selfish motives.
This text concludes the current section of this chapter and introduces the next (see outline). Krishna made the following points in this section:
| TEXT | POINT |
| 5 | Krishna is all-knowing, throughout all his births |
| 6 | This is because he is not "born," but manifests his eternal, unborn personality |
| 7 | Krishna appears in this world to establish religion |
| 8 | He does so by protecting the religious |
| 9 | One who knows that Krishna is transcendental also becomes transcendental... |
| 10 | ...by attaining freedom from attachment, fear, and anger - thus developing love for Krishna |
| 11 | Krishna grants everyone what they want |
| 12 | But materialistic people avoid contact with God, and receive his blessings through demigods |
| 13 | Although Krishna grants all rewards and punishments, he is not directly responsible for our happiness or misery. |
| 14 | Krishna is always aloof from the reactions of action, being freed from material desire. |
