4:7 Bhagavad Gita

Context

The previous text Established that Krishna is Lord of all, who is never conditioned by material energy, although he appears to take birth within it. This text will explain what motivates Krishna to appear within this world: He comes to help it. Whenever the path of religion is blocked by discrepancies, Krishna comes to end the irreligious practices and again clear the auspicious path of self-realization.

Sub-Points:

Atmanam Srijami Aham - I create myself
The word srijami literally means "create". Some interpret this to indicate that Krishna is created at a certain point, and that beyond or before Krishna is the "one", the unified Brahman. However, remembering the previous text, wherein Krishna says that his birth is a manifestation not a beginning of himself (sambhava), one hesitates to reach such a conclusion. Futher, within this text Krishna says aham, I, srijami, create, atmanam myself. The direct meaning is that Krishna is not created from something existing prior to himself, but that he manifests himself of his own will.
